"A Medusa Voadora de Alfena" investigates the complex relationship between the photographic image and the Alfena UFO Case, an important sighting of an Anomalous Aerial Phenomenon that occurred in Alfena, in the municipality of Valongo, district of Porto, Portugal, on September 10, 1990. Supported by the narrative and imagery potential of contemporary photography and its free-discursive nature, the project is developed based on original records and documents of the Alfena Case and original photographs, presenting in a photobook the possibilities of documentary photography's transit in the face of the tenuous border between fiction and reality. This ambiguity not only questions the role of photographic images as a guarantor, but also encourages a reflection on the role of photography in the construction and deconstruction of individual and collective memory in extraordinary, unusual and supernatural events.
